Phoebe (formerly Roxanne)

After 15 years together, Zoey has moved on and I miss her dearly. During the unbearable silence in the days that followed, this beautiful face crossed my path...Thank you so much Atlanta Pet Rescue for saving Phoebe just for me. She fills my days with laughter and my nights with very loud snores. It is like she has lived here forever! She loves the couch and the kitchen rug for hanging out. She is my new best friend and she is wonderful!

Sadie

Hi! It's me, Sadie! I wanted to send you a picture of my new little brother. This is a photo of us hanging out on the couch. I am very good at protecting him and making sure no one gets too close. What's strange is he has very little fur and NO tail. I don't get it! Also, he gets to poop in the house which I don't think is fair, even if it is in a diaper. Anyway, you can tell we're related because we're both so cute. It's hard to believe that a little over three years ago, I was starving in a backyard. I feel so lucky to be living in a nice house with a mommy and daddy who love me so much and now I have a new playmate!

Lots of love and licks to all my APR friends, Sadie

Molly

Greetings! It was one year ago today that we had the good fortune of adopting Molly. She has become the center of our lives! (How can dogs do that??)

She had her annual physical and is a healthy 10.6 lbs. No sign of heartworm!!

She loves riding in her basket when we bicycle at the beach. As these pictures indicate, she has definitely fallen into the honey pot!

Dolly is a treasure!

Our family adopted Dolly in July of 2009 and she is so dear to our hearts. She is such a little Doll, that we didn't have the heart to rename her! She is super affectionate and become our lap warmer. She has learned to sit, lie down, shake and sing! She howls her favorite tunes, and has even taken to singing when she sees us in the morning. Keeps us laughing!

Her general attitude is so easy going. She just has such a great demeanor. She let's us know when a stranger comes to the door, but when she's properly introduced, she's wagging her tail and letting people pet her right away.

Dolly-boo is our most common nick-name and my son runs in the door from school yelling it loud...she comes running feverishly to greet him. We even took her on our vacation to Ft. Lauderdale over Thanksgiving holidays. She stayed in 3 people's houses and never had an accident! Have crate, will travel!

Just wanted to give you a little update of how much we dearly love her! She has made our family complete!

Thanks for all your help and care during our adoption process. We feel we were truly blessed with her.

Bella and Justin

Justin, my Labrakita, is a very social dog. The two cats in the family won't give him the time of day, however! For a long time the foster dogs I brought home from Adopt-a-Golden satisfied Justin's need to dogpile with another canine, but after a year he got so attached to each one ... it was time to find him a permanent friend! As for me, I had had a wonderful Corgi, Piglet, and missed the snuffles, snorts, and whuffles Corgwyn make--not to mention their larger-than-life personalities.

Enter Bella. Be and Justin liked each other from the start, and I liked her personality (is there a Corgi without Personality and Attitude?) So of course I came home from the shelter with a Corgi. She's been here less than a week and already friends are commenting that Bella acts like she has been here forever. The first thing she did was to thoroughly sniff the house, and to walk the perimeter of the yard. A Corgi needs to know what and where to herd, after all. She and Justin play, chase, wrestle, and roll; they play with the boys next door who are happy to throw balls all day and all night if I would let them;, and then sleep in a happy tired pile. The cats are quite disgruntled; they aren't sure how they feel about no longer outnumbering the canines in the house.

Bella needed to lose eight pounds--but if she carries on as she and Justin do here in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v QTk9SsFwU), I confidently predict that she won't need to work too hard on her diet.

Bella also went to the dog park for the first time today and got along with everyone--and circuited the park several times. It isn't a small park, either.Bella's a good-tempered, busy, intelligent Corgi! , and I suspect she and Justin are going to have a lovely time And it just feels right having a Corgi in the house again :) thank you, Atlanta Pet Rescue ... we will keep you posted!

Berkeley and Quincy

We adopted two "brothers" Berkeley (formerly Crunch) and Quincy (formerly Crispy) from Atlanta Pet Rescue. As a volunteer I had my eye on them for quite some time. They were actually adopted by someone else first but were later returned. I think it was meant to be.

They are addicted to snuggling and have the most interesting personalities. They are a wonderful addition to our home.

The first picture is from their first day at home.

Static (formelry Winnie)

Winnie has been renamed Static because her hair is out of control! When she rolls around a lot on the carpet, she gets a little mini-mohawk. She's been an absolute joy. She has grown quite fond of this particular squeaky toy, so when she's done playing with it she will try to hide it. She's not very good at hiding it, but it's hilarious to watch her come up with new places to put it.

She loves our Sheltie/Spaniel mix we got from APR almost 5 yrs. ago. He tolerates her jumping up at him and, when he gets tired of it, he will let her know in a very gentle way. They love to chase each other outside.

Static is very good in the crate at night and during the day when we are out of the house. She has had 2 pee accidents and 1 poop accident in the house. We're still trying to figure out what schedule is best for her, and as soon as that schedule is routinely set, I think she'll be housetrained in no time. Everyone thinks she's as cute as a button.

Wrigley (formerly Emma)

We adopted Wrigley (formerly Emma) two months ago, and she has been a fantastic addition to our family! She has made herself comfortable here and is thoroughly enjoying her new home. Cute, sweet, and playful, she is loved by all who meet her-both human and canine! We hope we have given her as much happiness as she has already given us, and we look forward to many more happy times to come!

Bailey (Formerly Marcie)

Bailey came to live with me last April. Since then, I had a job offer in Virginia, so we have moved a few states away, and Bailey has grown into her adult size! I am so glad I have Bailey with me, as I have someone waiting for me when I get home from work instead of coming home to an empty apartment, and have a reason to go to the dog park and socialize with all the other humans there. Bailey loves playing with other dogs, chasing them around the park and wrestling with them, but is nice and calm at home. She really enjoyed frolicking in the snow this winter, and enjoys playing in the sand on Virginia Beach.

Thank you for giving Bailey another chance when no one else adopted her. She is a marvelous dog!

Baleigh

We're so happy to have Baleigh! She's just adorable and it took her about 24 hours to get used to everything. She explored her new forever home and did her best to ignore Bentley. He's a couple of months younger, so he was just so "uncool".

Bentley was a little concerned about this new addition to the family at first, but now they play, play and play. The second day she was here, the two of them were just exhausted from chasing each other all night long. In the morning, she woke me with a cold nose touching my nose.

One of her favorite places to check out is our fireplace. She's white....fireplaces ..... aren't. And the bird watching! My gosh! She's mesmerized. I have seen the two of them sharing one chair in front of the window. How cute can you get?

Thank you, APR, for giving me two fantastic pets. We will love them forever!!

Ian

I adopted Ian in June 2008, shortly after one of my dogs passed away. Amazingly Ian's personality is similar to that of the dog I had lost, which made my grieving a little easier. Ian is a wonderful and loving dog. He loves to make friends with everyone he encounters. I'm so glad I found him!

Bebe: A Year Later

Today marks our one year anniversary with Bebe! A year ago we went to your facility hoping to find a dog and what we found was family. Bebe has brought such joy to our little family. We give thanks today for her - for her place in our home and our hearts. And we thank you for your wonderful service and your tireless devotion to animals in need.

All Our Love,
Alexander, Jessica, Bebe...and the two cats - Peter and Stella - too

Cha Cha (formerly Dulce)

Wanted to let you know that Cha Cha, whom I brought home at the end of January, is doing great. She's a real sweetheart and adapted easily to her new home and sibling Zoe. My only complaint is that they both want to sleep on my face...Cha Cha's the dark one. Chris L.

Violet

Our little pug is famous!! (Well, kind of!) I submitted a picture of her to an online photography contest, and she was chosen out of 10,000+ pictures!! She's part of Group 3, about halfway down at http://thepioneerwoman.com/photography

Hope you are doing well! Violet sends her love!!

Baci the Poodle

Dear APR people, it's me, Baci fka Kaleb! I was adopted by my mommy in August 2008. As if being adopted by my mommy wasn't good enough, soon after I went to live with her, this grandma lady moved in with us! I'm never alone! Then about a year later, my Auntie Mary moved in next door. I am the luckiest boy on earth!!! I am so spoiled, but I'm a good boy and I love to get belly rubs, play with my stuffed toys (especially my monkey), and walk around the neighborhood leaving messages for all of my friends. I am completely potty trained - mommy followed the APR instructions and kept me on a leash for a month, even when I was sleeping at night, and it worked! Oh, and I love the dog park in Smyrna!! And I have a girlfriend who is a cat!! Her name is Mama Kitty, she is beautiful. We canoodle in the big chair almost every day when we take our afternoon nap together! I'm very happy here, it's great! I love my mommy so much. And it's not only because of her warm bed and al
l the snuggles. I don't like rain or thunderstorms, though. I hide in the closet when that's going on, or sometimes I go down to Grandma's room to hide. That's about the only thing I'm afraid of though. I love to show everyone how rough and tough I am! Please don't tell about the thunderstorm thing. Love, Baci Noodle Nelson

Rosin (formerly Bull)

Hello,

I adopted Bull this past Saturday and I am so happy with him. His new name is Rosin. I didn't really think Bull fit his personality. I am an orchestra teacher and rosin is the stuff that that string players put on their bow and leave to help stick it to the strings and comes off as white powder. I thought it was a good name because he sticks to me like glue following me where ever I go.I love his super sweet side when he is calm and his hyperactive playful side.He is eating and going to the bathroom normally and having no issues with that. I have included a couple photos. One is him "camping" in my living room and an another is him being lazy on my lap.

Thank You,
Laura Donovan
