Bonnie Blue and Bailey

I adopted Bonnie Blue (formerly Sissy) and Bailey (formerly Muffin) on October 22. They are the most wonderful dogs! They are such fun and so well behaved. They were potty trained from day 1!! I can't imagine my life without them. They are the sweetest, easiest, easy going dogs, and such fun to have around. I'm so glad I adopted them and highly encourage everyone to adopt from Atlanta Pet Rescue! All of the animals deserve a loving, forever home.

Stuart Little

Hi guys, It's Stuart here. It's been just a little more than a month since I was adopted and I wanted to let you know that all is well! I had a really good Thanksgiving in my new home and boy was that a feast!

As you can see this home has multiple beds and I try to use them all! LOL

We have daily routine walks and I also enjoy a fenced back yard. I have treats and toys galore to keep me busy. I'm also so good in the house that my unsupervised time can be up to 4 hours now without the crate so that's pretty sweet.

Hugs and Smiles,

Stuart :)

Bogey

We are thankful for Atlanta Pet Rescue! We got our sweet little Bogey from you guys almost 2 years ago now and we don't know what we would have done wihout him. It's amazing how much joy and love these little creatures can give. We had the best experience with APR and we can't thank you enough for giving us our little guy.

"Parker" (previously named "Danny Boy")

Josh and I always have had a dog named "Tela." Tela is a very special pup; however, she loves to chew doorframes if she is home alone. After much debate, we decided to adopt another dog as a friend for Tela! Adopting "Parker" was the best decision we have ever done, and we can now go out without a worry, and come home to an intact doorframe! Not only has Tela stopped chewing the doorframes, but her need to be with us 24/7 has completely calmed down. Parker and Tela play CONSTANTLY now! Everyone comments how much of a perfect pair they are for each other! Parker is the sweetest, most lovable pup we could've ever asked for! With his adorable little underbite and quirky personality, he brings smiles to our faces daily!

Just a note on the side:

I have been obsessed with APR ever since I was a sophomore in undergrad at Emory University. I always told myself that when it was time to adopt a dog, no matter where I lived in the country, I was going to adopt from APR. Josh and I currently live in Florida, Josh as a veterinarian and myself a 3rd year veterinary student. When it was time, we drove from Florida to Atlanta for a night to adopt our precious pup Parker!

Thank you so much APR for Parker and for all the efforts, love and care you provide to the puppies and kitties in your hands!

Yours truly,

Stacey W. & Josh S. (& Tela and Parker)

Daisy (previously Candy)

It's been just over 3 months that we've had our adorable pup and already it's hard to imagine life before her! From her first day at home she has been an absolute joy, something that was very surprising considering she had a full body cast and a cone on her head. That didn't slow her down in the slightest, as you can see by her big smiling face in the first photo.

Daisy is an excellent watch dog (without going overboard when the wind blows leaves across the sidewalk) and very smart. She is a total cuddle bug to the point where we can't even take her outside right after work--she needs at least 10 minutes of belly scratching before she's calm enough to go outside! Once we're outdoors she's very good on a leash and can run on 3 legs just as fast as any 4-legged dog I've seen.

She spends most of her time on our bed looking out the window, which faces the driveway. When we pull up from work her little head pops up and you can see her tail start wagging. However, she doesn't even make a move until she hears the car lock. Then she bolts to greet us at the front door. We've said that no matter how terrible our days have been, it all goes away when she greets us!

Thank you so much to all the wonderful volunteers at APR (especially Karen Levy!) who helped guide us to the perfect addition to our family! We love her so much!

I can't believe it's been 9 months

I can't believe it's been 9 months since Dusty and I became a happy family. He means so much to me, I only hope that I mean as much to him. He's my sidekick! My friends adore him, my familiy requests that he come to events and my colleagues even check on him from time to time. Dusty is "spoiled rotten to the core", as I like to tell my friends. I'm like that annoying Mom that keeps "kissing her baby"... lol ... I just can't help myself.

His Doctor, my neighbors and even his "nanny" (the dog walker) all comment on how wonderful he is (I can't take the credit, I'm sure he was born this way).

This summer we visited my family in Florida and Boston. He enjoyed the beach, the long walks in Miami, and he adored the car ride from Tampa to Miami. He was a charm. Our trip to Boston was especially wonderful ... he enjoyed the hustle and bustle.

I'm so happy to be Dusty's "Mommy". I've learned so much about myself and I'm learning even more valuable lessons. Thanks APR for being such great match makers.

Casey (formerly TJ)

With Thanksgiving tomorrow, we thought this was the perfect time to thank you all for the wonderful work you do. Thanks to you, and with Louise's assistance, we adopted Casey (TJ) on Sept. 11. He was very timid and shy, and scared of everything. As every day passed, he became less fearful and very quickly has stolen our hearts. He is the happiest most fun loving little guy. He has wonderful manners and the leash that he feared the most is now the thing that brings out the most excitement in him. He is no longer skin and bones but a healthy, energetic, confident pup that is loving life. He has brought love and happiness back into our lives after we had lost our last pet.

Thank you again. If we had listed all of the best qualities in a pet, Casey is what we would have ordered (not to mention - cute as a button with brown eyes that will melt your heart)!!

Alex

Attached are some pictures of Alex in his new home. He is such a great cat. He slept on the bed last night. I was even able to clip his front claws with a little effort this morning. He is very well behaved and extremely social. I can tell his former owners really loved him, and took great care of him. I will do my best to live up to the high standard they obviously set, along with the care he received from you and your group. Thanks for helping bring us together.

Bernie (formerly known as Garrett)

I had been looking for months at the pets on the Atlanta Pet Rescue website, and had seen several that had caught my eye, but when I saw the 4 dachshund/shih-tzu puppies that were listed in February of 2010, I was completely won over. All 4 of the puppies in the litter were absolutely adorable, but it had to have been some kind of divine intervention that I ended up with Bernie (who had been named Garrett at the time.) When I arrived on the morning of the adoption, there was already a line outside of the door of families waiting to try and adopt the puppies in this litter, and I was very nervous that I wouldn't be able to adopt. However, luck was on my side that day and I carried Bernie home with me!

He has been such a great addition to my family. He loves EVERYONE, and knows no stranger. He is happiest snuggling down in someone's lap, and likes to sleep burrowed down under the covers next to whoever in my family he has chosen to sleep with that night. He has made me so happy and I am so thankful that I was able to adopt him! Thanks APR!

Muffin

I'm attaching a recent photo of Muffin. Some might notice that she used to have a lot of black hair. That hair eventually fell out, and was replaced by more brown and some white and black. The fleabite dermatitis is gone(thanks to a helpful hint from a friend suggesting adding a little dollup of olive oil in their dry food--works wonders!). Today, we had our 6 month checkup after her positive Heartworm results. I'm happy to say that Muffin tested negative today, and is happy and healthy. Thanks to all for such good care of her until we could adopt her.

Guido

I just have to share these two pictures with you. The first one is Guido in his snow coat right after I adopted him in Feb 2010. The second picture is on the deck with his new short cut for the summer. I will take your calendar home today to show Guido all of his friends and hang it next to these shots of him that I have framed.

Guido's loves to sit and love. I remember they told me at APR that the volunteers raced to see who could get to him first.

God bless you and all your wonderful staff for the happiness you bring to these needy little animals and to those of us who are lucky enough to have them become part of our family. Have a great holiday.

Frosty (Now Abby)

I adopted Abby back in September. She has been such an added blessing to my life! We are having a blast and learning alot together. I did call a few times for some tips on training and other things and everyone there was just amazingly helpful and happy to assist me. She and I are still training on something but enjoying it all the way. She's become even more of a cuddler which is perfect for me. She is a sweetheart and my instincts were right when I felt like she was the one for me :)

Lucinda, nee Sugar

It's a little over two weeks ago since Lucinda (Lu) brought us home...all the great people at the agency remember her as Sugar...and it's been a blast! Just as her foster Mom and everyone there promised, she has been a true pleasure to be with. It's been a long time since we've had a puppy (she's 1-1/2, but you would never know it!) in the house and we're loving it. She's terrorizing our Ridgeback-Mix, Natalia, and has made us so very happy. Thank you everyone!

Kip (Now named Wyatt)

After a 3 hour car ride home to south Georgia, Kip (now named Wyatt) was extremely excited to have a forever home! Kip loves to take walks around the neighborhood and play with other dogs his size (he now has a good friend who is a small Shih tzu). Kip is still a little shy around new people he doesn't know, but as long as you let him sniff you out on his terms he'll soon play with you. Kip's boundless puppy playfulness and affection have been a welcome addition to my home!

Gadget

Gadget (now named Lolly)
Lolly is the most amazing little boy. We chose the name Lolly because he's so sweet (like a lollipop) and he makes us Laugh Out Loud. He took to our family so quickly and happily that it's like he's never had a care in the world. When my daughters play in the back yard, he stays outside with them, exploring his huge, fenced-in play area. He has absolutely no fear of children or dogs, and he regularly climbs in my daughters' laps for kisses and hugs. He gets along perfectly with our other dog, an 8 year old poodle named Sammy. He doesn't seem to miss his eye, although he is still apprehensive about going down stairs and going outside when it's dark. He brings us joy and laughter every day, and we are so happy to have him in our family!

Petey

Hi APR! Mom said I should write to you to thank you for taking good care of me while at APR. Hi Kathy! Hi Mara! She said I should also fill you in on my exciting new life with my forever mom at my forever home! I have three sisters: two are dachshunds like me named Daisy and Duchess and my other sister, named Molly, is a Sheltie mix. I'm having the time of my life! I get to race around through the house out through a dog door and play and explore to my heart's content in the huge yard that's wooded and filled with gardens and ponds. Mom makes us breakfast every morning and then we even get dinner. As you can see by the photos of me I have gained much needed weight and mom says I'm very handsome. She calls me her beautiful boy and gives me so much love and attention. I sleep in a big soft warm bed with my sisters and my mom. I love her so much and she loves me that much more. I'm no longer afraid and no longer have any anxiety issues because I've been reassured t
ime and time again that mom will always come home. The girls told me that and they were right! So, I haven't had to have any medication for anxiety. I have a grandpa and a grandma that love me too! I am now very content and I have found my home after a long journey. Mom says I will always be her beautiful boy and I will always be with her. Thanks for taking care of me and finding the mom and the home of my dreams! This place is like Heaven on Earth!
