Swede

We adopted Swede almost 4 years ago! She was one of the reindeer pups, Vixen, from mom, Gretchen (pointer mix). We think her dad is a blue heeler, but we'll never know for sure.

Swede is the most lovable dog we've ever known. As one of our friends says, "she wears her heart on her sleeve!" She had to quickly learn the rules of the household with rambunctious big sis Scout as the first "dog" family member.

Swede loves going for runs - most definitely her favorite activity. And she especially loves chasing after squirrels. She is clicker trained, and while sometimes effective, she still can't contain herself when we spot other dogs while walking. Seattle is known as one of the most dog-friendly cities in the country, so she has many opportunities to practice her skills!

Did I mention we moved to Seattle? While I am sure Swede doesn't care for a downpour (as noted in the book, The Art of Racing in the Rain, highly recommended), I do believe she loves the interesting smells that become more apparent after a light mist. She has all the necessary gear to face the Seattle weather - a raincoat, her fleece, several warm dog beds for camping trips, and a reflective vest for the dark.

I can't imagine life without Swede. I am so grateful to APR for bringing her into my life - she is truly the perfect dog - I couldn't have asked for anything more. Thanks, Gretchen, for keeping those pups safe until APR was able to bring all of you in!
